Description
This selection gets its name from its outstanding maroon fall color, which holds for up to a month whether planted in sun or shadier spots. A more oval variety than the species, it exhibits dense, upright branching. Young stems are dark red, contrasting nicely with the yellow-green foliage of spring. Clusters of creamy white flowers bloom in spring as the leaves begin to turn dark green. Bluish-black berries persist into winter, providing food for birds. Best in well-drained areas with moister soils.
